This is a hit or miss procedure. For some shifters, it's simply a matter of the down shifter pawl being ceased. other times, the cable terminal has been jammed into the shifter in such a way that causes permanent damage, and this is almost exclusively due to ceased cables.. I understand that some shifters are quite expensive and hard to replace. If I need to go inside of the shifter, I am charging for the labor to do so regardless. If it turns out that the problem is easily solved, there will most likely not be extra charge and I will put it back together in functioning condition.
